The original barn restored and the design is from barns
built in the 1800's. It features a gabled roof, antique stained
glass imported from England and brick isle ways.
Stalls are 12 x 12 or 13 x 13 with or without runs and
include 1.5" rubber mats. Stalls have automatic waterers.
The brick provides traction and can be wet down during hot
summer days to cool barns.
Barns were positioned to catch the delta breeze at night.
There is a fly spray system and fans are available in the
summer and stall lights to keep horses coats down are
available in the winter months.
Individual Tack Rooms
Barns has individual tackrooms & grain rooms. Borders get their own large tack closet to safely store their saddles and tack in.

At the Historic Nelson Ranch, horses are our
specialty and priority. Horses are feed twice
daily at 7 am and 5 p.m. We only buy top quality
hay. We offer your choice and combination of
alfalfa, alfalfa/grass, rye or 3 oat mix. We
purchase quality hay from local growers for the
entire year, so horses have a consistent diet.
Grain areas are available for safe storage of
grain and suppliments.
There are three 1.5 acre turnout pastures. Irrigated and non-irrigated sand pastures are available for borders on-site to turn out their
horses for exercise. There are shaded seating areas, hammocks including picnic areas to read and relax. There is also a hot
walker to exercise or cool out horses.
We offer 5 large riding arenas. All have sandy loom footing, which
means no mud! The large outdoor arena is set up with return
alleys and holding areas. The footing is excellent in this arena and
is heat engineered to prevent packing, soft and allows horses to
breakover properly. The jumping arena is has firmer sand footing.
The large indoor has an all purpose sand footing. There is a trail
arena. There is a CD / I-pod system for borders to play music while
they ride. There is a smaller 100 X 150 warm up arena and 2 - 50'
round pens with sand footing. There is easy access to trails along
Cache Creek.
