Today the Historic Nelson Ranch is once again a working horse ranch central to the
Sacramento County, Yolo County and Solano County. The horse trainers at the Historic Nelson
Ranch are respected Western and English horsemen & women. From starting the horses off in
a positive manner that will help the horse gain confidence and excel in the ring to training and
lessons designed to instill confidence, correctness that carries over to help the riders progress
in the show ring. They train many horses from all over California, locally from the cities of
Sacramento and Davis.The horse trainers at the Historic Nelson Ranch offer Western & English
Horseback Riding Lessons to children and adults.
The Yolo County Fair held its horse show at the location in 2006, while their facility was being
upgraded. The Historic Nelson Ranch horse training facilites offers top notch English and
Western horseback riding lessons and trainers for the rider and horse in the Sacramento area
and Davis area. Equestrians have the opportunity to ride and learn from champion horse
trainers offering personalized training, tailored to the experience levels of the horse or rider.
Students learn to build trust and respond to their horses. Trainers offer horses for weekly
lessons. From schooling to rated shows. HNR prides itself on providing a friendly welcoming
environment where horses and riders progress.

This year we have SAHJA- Sacramento Area Hunter Jumper Association and AQHA approval for our All Breed horse show. The horse trainers at the Historic Nelson Ranch offer horse training and English and Western Horse Back Riding Lessons. We have quality quarter horses and paint horses for sale. We are close to Davis in Yolo County, West Sacramento and Sacramento region. Davis is just 8 miles away. Sacramento is 7 miles away. The location of the ranch is cetral for horse boarding and riding in the Sacramento Area. We are proud to offer AQHA - American Quarter Horse Association and APHA American Paint Horse Association shows and events. The Historic Nelson Ranch also offers Clinicians and horse trainers from around the world as well as Sacramento area have been here. Including world champion's J.D. There is plenty of room for riders with 5 riding arenas, horse stalls, paddocks and multiple wash racks and turnout areas for horses.
