| Since 1994, the Western Wishes Foundation has made countless dreams come true for kids who love the “western” way of life. Contrary to other organizations who accept only terminally ill children, Western Wishes has a been able to serve victims of severe spinal cord and head injuries as well as survivors of cancer, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, heart afflictions. Many of them would have been turned away from traditional "wish" organizations because they only select terminal children under the age of 18. Western Wishes is different. We accept children and young adults who have “beaten the odds.” It has been our pleasure to see treasured dreams turned into lasting memories. Our recipients are predominantly rodeo competitors or ranch-raised children. The common thread we find with most Western Wishes kids is that they possess a fierce competitive spirit which allows them to focus on their goals, rather than their affliction, giving them a positive outlook. As such, they are able to become “ambassadors of hope” to others who are about to enter the long road to recovery, or who are preparing to face the end of an already too-short life. Western Wishes is a publicly supported charity, which relies exclusively on generous donations from people like you! All our volunteers are un-paid, as are most of the staff. Western Wishes is a registered 501-C (3) tax-exempt organization, EIN-# 88-0372669 Contact the Western Wishes Administrator: Donnalyn Quintana, Telephone: (805) 929-8590 Email: DonnalynQ@yahoo.com Mailing Address: Western Wishes P.O. Box 5804 Santa Maria, Calif. 93456-5804 About the Western Wishes Foundation... Are you a nationally registered, tax-deductible, charity? Yes. The Western Wishes Foundation is a nationally registered 501-C(3) tax-deductible charity organization. Our EIN number is 88-0372669. How many wishes do you grant every year? Not nearly enough! Unfortunately, the number of wishes we grant is not dictated by need, but rather, by money. We rely completely on donations to help make wishes come true, and while we have a long list of worthy recipients, we have to stay within our budget, and use all we have on hand! How much of my donation actually goes to the kids? There are, of course, always routine administrative costs associated with any charity, such as phone, web site, etc., but we strive to make sure that every dollar is spent wisely, and with only the recipients in mind. There is no paid staff, no office to rent (it’s been donated), even the Board of Directors are all volunteers. The administrator is paid a small amount, but it amounts to far less than minimum-wage! It is our goal to ensure that 90% of every dollar donated goes directly to making a wish come true. How can I help? The easiest way is to simply click on the button on this site for “Heart of the West” and become a sponsor of the Western Wishes Foundation! If you’d like to volunteer time, instead of (or in addition to) money, you can contact our administrator, Donnalyn Quintana, and she’ll take down all your information. How do I nominate a young person for a Wish? Just contact Donnalyn Quintana with all the specifics.(Contact Us) We will be more than happy to do everything we can to make his/her wish come true! |
